Biography

Rabindranath Tagore (1861–1941) was a polymath—poet, philosopher, and artist—who reshaped modern Indian art in his later years. Without formal training, he developed a unique visual language characterized by bold ink strokes, surreal figures, and psychological depth. His works broke away from traditional realism and introduced a deeply introspective and modernist approach. Tagore’s paintings have been exhibited internationally and are considered foundational in the evolution of modern Indian art.
