Biography
Abanindranath Tagore (1871–1951) played a pivotal role in shaping Indian artistic identity during the colonial period. As the founder of the Bengal School, he sought to revive traditional Indian techniques and aesthetics, moving away from Western realism. His works often carried spiritual and nationalist themes, influencing generations of artists across India.
